Editorial Standards

HolaHello covers film, television, entertainment, arts, culture and the industries that shape them. We aim to connect English- and Spanish-speaking audiences with reporting and criticism that is informed, accessible and attentive to Latino, Hispanic, queer and historically underrepresented perspectives.

Accuracy takes priority over speed. Before publication, we seek to verify names, dates, quotations, titles, statistics and other material facts using the most direct and reliable sources available.

We prioritize firsthand reporting, direct interviews, official documents, original statements and other primary sources. When secondary reporting is necessary, we identify and credit the publication that established the information. Anonymous or confidential sources are used only when their information is important, cannot reasonably be obtained on the record and can be independently evaluated or corroborated.

Rumors, leaks and developing reports are identified as unconfirmed unless they have been verified. Headlines, thumbnails and social posts should accurately represent the underlying story and should not manufacture certainty or omit essential context for the sake of attention.

HolaHello distinguishes reported information from analysis, commentary and criticism.

Reviews reflect the honest judgment of the credited critic after viewing the work. Ratings are not negotiated with studios, publicists, filmmakers, performers, advertisers or sponsors. Access to talent or advance materials does not guarantee coverage, determine a rating or prevent negative criticism.

News and industry reporting may include analysis when it helps readers understand significance or context. Interpretation and informed inference should be clearly supported and should not be presented as confirmed fact.

Advance screeners, press screenings, premieres, interviews, press conferences, festivals and promotional events are standard tools of entertainment journalism. Receiving access does not create an obligation to publish or to provide favorable coverage.

HolaHello may agree to reasonable embargoes before receiving advance information or materials. We honor embargoes we have accepted, but studios, platforms, publicists and other outside parties do not receive approval over our conclusions, ratings, headlines or final editorial copy. Factual questions may be submitted to a source before publication without granting editorial control.

We protect unreleased screeners, confidential links, passwords and embargoed materials and do not distribute them without authorization.

Studios, festivals, tourism organizations and event producers may sometimes provide travel, lodging, meals or admission connected to legitimate reporting opportunities. When a third party materially pays for travel or lodging associated with a specific piece of coverage, HolaHello discloses that support within or alongside the relevant content.

Nominal promotional items do not influence editorial judgment. Substantial gifts may be declined, returned, donated or otherwise separated from coverage. No gift, trip or hospitality arrangement guarantees publication or favorable treatment.

HolaHello may accept advertising, sponsorships, paid partnerships and affiliate relationships. Commercial support does not give an advertiser authority over independent editorial decisions.

Sponsored material is clearly identified using direct language such as “Sponsored,” “Paid Partnership” or an equivalent Spanish disclosure. Material connections and affiliate relationships are disclosed clearly and near the relevant recommendation or link. If HolaHello may receive a commission from a purchase, readers will be told; the price paid by the reader is not increased by that commission unless expressly stated otherwise.

HolaHello does not accept payment in exchange for an independent review, rating, favorable opinion or undisclosed endorsement. Advertisers may review sponsored material for factual or contractual accuracy, but they may not convert advertising into unlabeled editorial coverage.

Editors and contributors must disclose financial, professional, personal or family relationships that could reasonably call their independence into question. When a conflict is material, HolaHello will disclose it, assign the coverage to someone else or decline the assignment.

Professional relationships with studios, platforms, publicists, artists or subjects do not automatically prevent coverage, but familiarity never excuses withholding relevant facts or altering an honest critical judgment.

HolaHello’s English and Spanish editions serve distinct but connected audiences. Translations preserve the facts, meaning and editorial position of the original work while allowing headlines, idioms, context and sentence structure to read naturally in each language. They are not required to be rigid word-for-word copies.

Material factual claims should remain consistent across both editions. When a significant correction affects bilingual content, both versions should be updated.

HolaHello may use digital and AI-assisted tools for research organization, transcription, translation, copyediting, image preparation, accessibility and technical production. All published editorial material is reviewed and approved by a human editor. These tools do not replace the credited author’s firsthand viewing, reporting, analysis or judgment.

AI output is treated as unverified material until a human editor checks it against reliable sources. HolaHello does not use AI to fabricate quotations, sources, interviews, events or firsthand experiences. AI does not receive a byline, and a review may not claim that a person watched a work when they did not.

Generative or materially altered visuals will not be presented as documentary evidence. When an AI-assisted image could reasonably be mistaken for a photograph of a real event, person or scene, its illustrative nature should be disclosed. Confidential sources, private personal information, embargoed materials and protected screener access should not be submitted to outside AI systems without authorization.

HolaHello uses original materials, authorized press assets, licensed media and images or clips selected for legitimate editorial purposes. Known creators, photographers, studios and source publications are credited when appropriate. Credits do not imply that a source or rights holder endorses our coverage.

Rights holders may contact press@holahello.world with a specific concern. We review credible requests promptly and may correct a credit, replace an asset or remove material when warranted.

We approach deaths, allegations, mental health, sexual violence, minors and private individuals with additional care. We avoid unnecessary graphic detail, dehumanizing language and speculation about a person’s health, identity, motives or guilt.

We seek respectful and specific language when covering Latino, LGBTQ+, disabled and other historically marginalized communities. Cultural context should illuminate a story rather than reduce people to stereotypes or use identity only for attention.

HolaHello corrects material factual errors promptly and transparently. Significant corrections should explain what changed; routine spelling, grammar or formatting adjustments may be made without a formal notice when they do not alter meaning. These standards are informed by the Society of Professional Journalists’ principles of seeking truth, minimizing harm, acting independently, and being accountable and transparent. Commercial disclosures are designed to follow applicable Federal Trade Commission guidance requiring material relationships to be communicated clearly and conspicuously. HolaHello maintains its own standards and is not endorsed by or affiliated with either organization.
